We are expert forensic auditors across the games industry, understanding subtle nuances and commercial issues that many of our competitors miss.
Our USP: we uniquely deploy legal expertise alongside formidable forensic auditing to highlight underpayments, expose hidden commercial nuances and maximise IP protection for our clients, all the while preserving the integrity of the commercial partnership.
360 Forensic audits across the globe for:
Game Developers
We carry out forensic audits for developers who sign deals with third-party game publishers. In our experience reporting is not as optimal as it can be and performed manually resulting in errors and omissions that may not be apparent on the face of it. Our forensic team routinely find that excessive deductions have been inadvertently taken, we identify missed payments and late payments, all resulting in lost revenue reaching into significant numbers, Our vast contractual experience enables interpretation of payment obligations and deep understanding of terms across the legal agreements meaning that we catch the nuances and the finer points of the commercial deal that often are hiding places for errors. We have discovered that financial reporting of the publisher back to the developer can often be incorrect. Recognising how important these relationships are to the developer we always audit sensitively, which means we conduct ourselves with full transparently, expertise and stoicism, independently and in good faith. We are recognised as a pair of ’safe hands’.
Game Publishers
In addition to publishing games on the main platforms, digital distribution often takes place across multiple smaller channels to gain further market exposure. We have identified a lack of transparency across the reporting back to publishers/self-publishing developers from these aggregators, namely around the distribution of “keys” and of hard copies of games.
Merchandise and Ancillary License Agreements
Whether you are a publisher or self-publishing developer monetising your IP beyond the game is a crucial and important way to generate revenue and connect with consumers. These deals are often lucrative and compelling with major retailers and brands wanting to broaden their reach and tap into a younger more engaged audience. Our forensic audit experience across these agreements can reveal incorrect reporting and unpaid revenue due to manual reporting, incorrect interpretation of payment terms, provisions and excessive deductions.
